Video review of the  difference between a Queen and a King Mattress?

Hi i’m Andrew and I’ve set up a visual demonstration of the difference between a queen and a king size mattress – just in case you are thinking of upgrading. The queen size mattress are both 80 inches so they’re the same length but, there is almost a foot and a half more width in the king size mattress. A King Mattress will give you a lot more room to stretch out and enhance your sleeping area.  If you look to the bottom you’ll notice that the foundation of a king size mattress is always split in the middle. Your bed frame is going to need a center leg to support this.  If you’ve got slats in the bed, you are also going to need a center support in the slats to give the king size bed the proper amount of support. You may notice the box spring is about 9 inches tall, that’s the traditional height for a box spring, but if you’ve got a really thick mattress or you’ve got a tall bed and you want to reduce that height with a low profile foundation. A low profile foundation is only 5” think. On a queen size mattress the box is going to be one single box all the way across. If you have a staircase that you’re trying to get up and you have a hard time getting that solid box around the corner you may want to consider a split queen foundation. I hope this answers some of your questions about the differences between a queen and a king size mattress.

What is the right size mattress for a guest room?

How big is the mattress in your guest room?

http://dfwfurniture.s3.amazonaws.com/videos/products/twin-to-full-mattress-comparison.f4v

Hi, I’m Andrew and I want to talk about beds that you might put in your guest room. I am going to compare a full size mattress to a queen size mattress. If you notice, I’ve place a full size mattress right next to a queen size mattress. A queen Mattress is wider and longer than a full size mattress.

If your room will accommodate a queen, your guests will have five inches more width and four inches more length. A Full size mattress is only six foot two inches long. So, if you have a taller guest, a queen might be better. I’ll be back with more mattress information on the next video. Thank you.

Mattress Size Chart.

  • California King   72″ x 84″
  • King                       76″ x 80″
  • Queen                  60″ x 80″
  • Full or double    53″ x 75″
  • Twin or single    38″ x 75″

Compare Mattress Sizes. Twin, Full, Queen and King mattress size review.

Hi, I’m Andrew, and I’ve set up a visual demonstration of the difference between a twin, a full, a queen, and a king mattress set. A twin mattress is 38 inches wide and 75 inches long. A full mattress is the same length, but it is 53 inches wide. Really, this is the smallest mattress that is acceptable for 2 people. The most popular mattress is the queen, which is 60 inches wide and it is 80 inches long.

  • California King   72″ x 84″
  • King                       76″ x 80″
  • Queen                  60″ x 80″
  • Full or double    53″ x 75″
  • Twin or single    38″ x 75″

A king mattress is actually the same width as 2 twins but it is 5 inches longer. A King is very comfortable for 2 adults. The California king is going to be 4 inches longer and 4 inches skinnier than a traditional or Eastern King Mattress.

Box springs and Foundations.

The box spring or foundation of king mattress is always split in two. It is important, when you get a king or a queen mattress, that your bed frame has a center support to give the mattress the proper level of support. Here you also see that this is a traditional 9-inch tall foundation. There is a lower profile box available which is about 5 inches tall. If your bed is taller and you have a hard time getting into the bed, you might consider a low-profile box. The Twin, Full and Queen beds up would typically have a single box spring, but if you have a house that has a curved staircase or a tight turn you have a hard time getting a queen box up the steps. In this instance you might consider a split queen box to make the installation easier.

Those are the sizes of a twin, full, queen, and king mattress. Thanks for checking with us, and we will have more mattress and furniture information on the next video.
